Accessibility

What we have done to make this site usable for everyone, what we know is still imperfect, and how to tell us when something does not work. Last updated 6 August 2026.

Our target

This site aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the standard most commonly referenced in US accessibility requirements, including for businesses serving the public.

We have not commissioned an independent audit, so we are not claiming certified conformance. What follows is an honest account of what has been done and what has not.

What has been done

  • Color contrast is measured, not guessed. Text over photographs is the usual failure point on contractor websites. The contrast of every text element over the homepage banner was calculated against the actual image pixels and meets AA with margin.
  • Every page works from the keyboard. Navigation, the menu button and the service request form are all reachable by tab, with a visible focus outline.
  • A skip link at the top of every page jumps past the navigation.
  • Real headings in order — one h1 per page, then h2 and h3 in sequence, so a screen reader can navigate by structure.
  • Descriptive alt text on every photograph, describing the work shown rather than repeating the page title.
  • Answers are not hidden behind clicks. The FAQ is plain text on the page rather than collapsed into accordions, which removes a whole class of interaction problems.
  • The service area map has a text equivalent. Every county we serve is listed in writing next to it, so nothing is available only as a picture.
  • Text resizes. The layout holds together when you zoom the browser.
  • The site works without JavaScript for reading. Pages are delivered as real HTML; scripts only enhance the menu and the form.

What we know is not perfect

Being specific here is more useful than a blanket claim of conformance.

  • The service area map is a third-party embed. It is produced by Datawrapper and we do not control its internal markup. This is why the full county list also appears as text beside it — the information is never only in the map.
  • No independent audit. Our testing has been our own, not a specialist's.
  • No screen reader testing with actual users. We have tested with the structure and the tooling, which is not the same thing.
  • An Instagram feed is planned for the homepage. Embedded social content is frequently poor for accessibility, and we will assess it before it goes live.

If something does not work

Please tell us — it is the fastest way for us to fix it, and we would rather know.

Call 609-714-8280 or email wpalombi@rooftophvac.com. Say which page you were on and what happened. If you cannot use this website to reach us at all, the phone number goes to a person.

We will respond within a few business days, and we will not ask you to prove anything.

Getting service another way

Nothing on this site is the only route to us. Everything the service request form does can be done over the phone. If the form is difficult for any reason, call 609-714-8280 and we will take the details down.
